MICHAEL R. HEISTAND - Professional Slater
Mike Heistand started slate & tile roofing in 1974 where he served his apprenticeship
with Slater local 113 in Philadelphia ,Pa. He has worked on many of the churches,
institutions, schools & government buildings in and around the tri-state area. In 2004
Mike was invited by his peers to join the (NSA) National Slate Association as a
Charter member. The National Slate Association was first established in 1922 by
producers of slate material. The goal then was to promote the use of slate for roofing
and structural applications. It also set the standards in slate roof materials and
construction still adhered to today. Not long after its formation in the 1920s, the
organization became inactive due to lack of cohesion in the industry and was
reorganized in 2002, Mike also spent 7 years as the in house slate and tile roofer for
the University Of Pennsylvania. With 33 years experience Mike is recognized as one
of todays experts in his field.
